La fin de la journée s’est avérée assez intéressante…nous devions faire une excursion de bateau à 16 h 30 lorsque qu’un autre orage électrique s’est abattu sur nous…nous avions déjà revêtu nos vestes de sauvetage lorsque la décision d’annuler a été prise…les gens qui étaient allés à la pêche aux piranhas a 16 h ont été moins chanceux…ils ont du attendre, sur les bateaux d’excursions, que la tempête passe avant de pouvoir revenir au bateau…les bateaux étaient dans un canal à l'abri des grosses vagues qui étaient générées par la tempête sur la rivière…ils étaient pas mal trempés à leurs retour…dans mon cas j’ai passé deux heures dans ma cabine dans le but d’accomplir une première en ce qui me concerne, la capture d’une image d’un éclair qui frappe le sol…et j’ai réussi…je dois dire que ça prend beaucoup de patience et de la chance en masse…8^)
En soirée, une fois la tempête terminée, nous avons fait une excursion pour trouver des caïmans…en chemin, nous avons fait l’expérience d’un phénomène très intéressant…des poissons qui sautaient hors de l’eau pour éviter de se faire attraper par des poissons encore plus gros…le problème, si s’en est un, est que certains de ces poissons retombaient dans le bateau…un des 7 ou 8 poissons qui ont atterri dans le bateau a quasiment frappé mon sherpa…dans un autre bateau, un passager a reçu un poisson par la tête et un autre qui a été frappé à l’épaule…toute une manière de faire de la pêche…une fois rendue à destination, le guide a attrapé un petit caïman, et je me suis fait un autre ami de la faune…Wally l’alligator…je ne suis pas un gros fan de ce genre d’activité, mais dans un cas comme celui-ci il y a toujours une chance qu’un touriste échappe le caïman dans le bateau et que celui-ci prenne sa revanche…8^)

The second part of the day was pretty interesting…we were supposed to board the boats at 16 :30 for an excursions…we were already wearing our lifejackets when a thunderstorm started to whip the river into a frenzy…needless to say that the excursion was cancelled…the folks that had gone fishing at 4 PM weren’t so lucky…they had to wait out the storm on the boats, hidden from the waves, in a little canal where they had been fishing…they were pretty wet when they came back on board…me, I decided to set up in my room and tried to capture a lightning bolt hitting the ground…2 hours of looking in the dark hoping to be react fast enough to catch a shot of one…I succeeded...for me it was a first…another one for the bucket list…a lightning strike on the Amazon…it takes patience and a lot of luck…8^)
In the evening, once the storm had passed, we went alligator spotting…on the way to the location where the spotting was to happen, we witnessed an interesting phenomenon…fishes jumping out of the water trying to escape bigger fishes trying to eat them…the problem is that some fish were landing in the boat…one fish almost hit my Sherpa…good, we’ll have some food for tomorrow…don’t know if the Sherpa knows how to clean the fish…oh well…we had about 7 fishes land in our boat…another boat was the recipient of about 15 of these creatures…one passenger got hit the head and one got hit in the shoulder…interesting fishing technique…once we reached our destination, the guide captured a small caiman and I made friends with another member of the animal world…Wally the gator…I’m not a big fan of bugging wild animals but in this case there is always a chance that a tourist could let it loose in the boat the gator could extract its revenge…8^)
